INFO: Version en.xModule type:

Manage languages

With Weblication® CMS, you can create websites in any number of languages. The number of language projects that can be managed via the backend is activated via the license. Even in the standard version, you can use the language selection for corresponding languages in the presence.

As an administrator, you can access the respective language via project management in the backend. As a maintenance user, you can call up the respective language file in Browse & Edit mode directly via the presence (front end). You can also call up the files and directories of the respective language via the file explorer, which you can access viaManage content, for example.

The extended language management (Core Classic/Business add-on module) offers you more convenient functions than the language management included in the standard version. The differences between the standard and additional module are listed in the table below.

Basics of language management

For multilingual presences, all language content is stored in a respective language directory. This means that there is a separate directory for each language at the top level of the directory tree.

The assignment of content to several languages is regulated by the storage in the directory tree. For each directory, a corresponding directory can be stored in the other languages, which contains the translated content. It is not absolutely necessary for each content to have a language version in the other languages. Content may only be available in one or more selected languages.

In order to ensure that language content is assigned, each directory is assigned a corresponding directory. Within this directory, the files contained therein are then assigned their respective language versions in a direct link.

The information as to whether a directory and/or a file has a corresponding version in another language can be viewed directly in the directory view with the extended language management. The current language is displayed in the directory path of the toolbar. The arrow placed next to the flag can also be used to switch between the assigned language versions of the current directory.

With extended language management, the current language is indicated by its language abbreviation ("de" for German, "en" for English, etc.) and appears in a dark color. Other optionally available language versions are displayed by a button with the language abbreviation. If the text is displayed in red, the language version does not yet exist; if it is displayed in gray, there is a language link to a file in the corresponding language directory.
